The Tao of Friendship • It was our final morning of fishing on the Bay of Campeche (Bahía de Campeche), and I found myself back in the boat with my buddy David Blinken and Fernando, our guide for the day. Of the four days I was in Campeche, David and I planned to fish the first and last of them together. That first day had been one of glorious fishing and friendship while ensconced within a Disneyesque world of sunshine and butterflies. But the “catching” was hard-fought, with countless casts to many cruising tarpon and with more fingers on my casting hand than tarpon brought to the boat.
